Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
This May, I will be climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for Smile International's feeding programme in Zimbabwe. Smile feed 680 AIDS orphans in a number of schools in Harare. This programme ensures that these children get one good hot meal a day. I am also hoping to raise enough money so that Smile can fund a community project in a young boy named Tapiwa's community. Tapiwa is sponsored by my church and the money will be used to provide school equipment or a water borehole.
I have witnessed Smile's work in Kosovo and was very impressed by their use of local knowledge and expertise to provide hope, aid and assistance for long term development to those in real need.
I am funding the entirety of the trip myself, all sponsorship will go direct to Smile. (www.smileinternational.org ).
This trip has been a lifelong ambition. The trek will take 7 days (and 6 nights) on the tallest mountain in Africa. It will begin in farmland, pass through jungle and mountain heathland and culminate in a 14+ hour climb, starting at 1am, climbing through Arctic conditions in less that 50% of the usual oxygen level to a height of just under 20,000ft .
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Smile International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If you have any questions about the trip, fundraising or Smile, please contact me: hamish@chezza.wanadoo.co.uk
