Post ride update
Thanks to you all for your sponsorship. I made it to Paris in one piece, unlike one poor guy who fell off and ended up with stitches in his chin and a very sore face!
The ride was great fun. The first day was very hot (32 degrees). About half of it was on a cycle path on a disused railway. Day 2 was harder work and a longer route on roads, but fortunately it had cooled down a bit. By day 3 it was showery and we had wind in our faces most of the way. Day 3 saw the biggest hill as well but then a good ride along a canal for 15 miles into Paris.
We had a lovely meal near Montmartre on saturday evening and then a wander round on Sunday before catching the Eurostar home.
Thanks again for your sponsorship - I am still collecting money but think I have reached the £500 target.
On Wednesday 30 July 2008 I am setting off from Hove to cycle all the way to Paris (apart from taking a ferry over the wetter bits!) Hopefully I won't get lost or fall off and will arrive three days later for a croissant and quick sprint up the Eiffel Tower.
I am currently training very hard (!) by cycling Elda uphill to school every day. I have also done the odd longer trip, including one to Newhaven to check that I will be able to cycle to the ferry at least. Perhaps I do need to get a bit more training in!
Yes, yes, I am building up to a request for your cash!! The cycle ride is in aid of the Argus Appeal, which raises funds for a variety of good causes across Sussex. Any money that you could give would be very welcome.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure (or so they say). The Argus Appeal gets your money quickly and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Even better, they let you put 'witty' comments on this page for all to see! You can even suggest a caption for my photo.
Alternatively, I do have a good old fashioned sponsorship form if all this high tech stuff is all too much for you - phone/email me and I'll add your details to the form.
Thanks for visiting this page. I'll let you know how I get on.
