Story
Salaam. I will be partaking in a sponsored trek up Mt Snowdon (highest mountain in Wales) in order to raise money to provide basic necessities for Syrian refugees.
Why Syria?
Since the start of the conflict in March 2011
- More than 2.9 million Syrians are hosted in the region placing unprecedented strain on the communities, infrastructure and services in host countries.
- There has been a massive escalation of arrivals in 2013 over one million Syrian refugees have registered as refugees since the beginning of 2013.
- Women and Children make up three-quarters of the refugee population.
- The vast majority of refugees are dependent on aid, arriving with little more than the clothes on their backs.
Currently, there are approximately 3,023, 769 Syrian refugees, many of whom have been displaced from their homes.
- Human Relief Foundation has launched an emergency appeal for funding to provide blankets and warm clothing to thousands of Syrian refugees.
- Many of the refugee camps are flooding and people are struggling to keep warm and dry whilst living in tents.
- Your sponsors for this humanitarian aid will lessen the misery of a vulnerable child or elderly person.
