Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page where we have started to raise funds for the charity Bowel Cancer UK .
In January 2007 our Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After an operation to remove the affected parts of his bowel, he underwent an intense course of chemotherapy & radiotherapy treatment for more than a year, which luckily proved to be successful and he was given the “all-clear” in 2008. Without all the hard work of the Nuffield Hospital in Cambridge and support of the staff at the charity, this process would have been much harder and perhaps not as successful in curing Dad’s cancer. Our Dad’s brother was diagnosed with the same cancer in 2006. Unfortunately however, the cancer was discovered too late and had already started to spread throughout his body. Our Uncle suffered for 2 years in agonizing pain before he passed away last summer. We, being the 3 Hanglin brothers, are therefore embarking on a year of fundraising events, culminating in the New York Marathon to raise as much as we can for this very personal and worthy charity in the hope that we can provide the much needed support to those who suffer from this horrible illness as well as their families and friends.
The main events include:
March - Silverstone Half MarathonJune - Blenheim Triathlon
June - Munich Half Marathon
August - Triathlon August - Cambridge Triathlon Sept - Half Nov 1st -We are putting our blood, sweat and tears into this year and we’d love it if you could sponsor us to get through these events and raise as much money as we can. Any amount is very much appreciated!
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks
Giles, Will and Ben
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bowel Cancer UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
PLUS, introducing: Daron Williams
As part of the training, we have been lucky to have the expert guidance of Daron Williams from LA Fitness in Cambridge who has donated his time to help with strength training, stretching and nutitional advice to help get us through the rigours of all those miles and stay in one, fit piece!
Thank you very much to Daron and for those interested, here is his site so that others can benefit from his fitness knowledge. He knows his stuff!
