We help those who have served in the Armed Forces and families of those who are currently serving through employment support, training and accommodation. We also provide support to those with disabilities who are out of work or need support to stay in work.

Story

I’m trekking 50km (31 miles) across the Brecon Beacons to raise money for Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI).

In 2019, RBLI celebrates its 100th year of offering crucial support to Armed Forces, people with disabilities and the unemployed.

I am pledging to raise £1,000 for this amazing cause and in celebration of their Centenary year.

The 2018 ASPIRE Cohort are fundraising for Royal British
Legion Industries (RBLI) to deliver vital projects that will help towards the incredible work that they do.

My fundraising efforts will go towards:

  • The design and delivery of a therapeutic, sensory, dementia friendly garden at Gavin Astor House Nursing Home at the RBLI village in Kent.
  • The renovation of an existing RBLI property to provide additional accommodation to veterans and their families

Dementia is an illness that affects so many of us and something as small as a garden designed to suit the needs of the lovely people at Gavin Astor House is just one way that we can help to improve the quality of their lives. They are so excited that this space is being revamped so that they can have their very own garden to look after.

The support for Veterans is critical. For people leaving the Armed Forces, finding accommodation in the private sector can be very challenging. Often, they struggle to access social housing and many end up sofa-surfing. Because of this, they often find it more difficult to secure employment without a permanent address, leading to money issues and relationship breakdowns. It’s a vicious cycle that RBLI are committed to addressing.

Your donation will enable veterans who come to RBLI with no money, no job and no home gain new skills, find employment and access welfare support which will help them lead independent lives with confidence in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our fundraising – this project means so much to us and any support you can provide would be very much appreciated.
