Welcome to Hannah And Jenny's Just Giving Page! Thank you for taking the time to come and have a look at what we are doing.
In August 2010 Jennifer Kirkham and Hannah Reilly are going to work with a small rural
township project in the Overberg area of the Western Cape, South Africa. The project
is called Net Vir Pret (Just for Fun) and reaches over 500 children and young people
who live in that area. Many go to isolated Farm Schools and their
families are seasonal packers and pickers on the farms. There is a high
incidence of foetal alcohol syndrome amongst the children and Net Vir
Pret uses the creative arts to draw out the playful and creative side of the children and help encourage their
development.
As art students we hope to use and extend our own skills
in a very practical way, doing art-based activities with the children. We will be there for around 3 weeks and we
will be living in the township community and working every day with Peter Takelo
the Youth and Community worker.
The project needs funds for
educational toys, craft resources, additional workers, art materials, a
small video camera and other things which can make a difference to these
children and young people.
Please note that we are paying all our expenses, so any monery donated will go directly to EDSA and in turn to the children.
