Happy-Go-Tukkie containing Lou Fitz & Joakim Behrman, does the Rickshaw Run! Described lovingly as 'The most stupid thing you can do with 2 weeks and a glorified lawnmower in India! 5000km of jungely, mountainy, deserty adventure in a handy 2 week poke in the eyeballs, the 'Rickshaw Run' is... well, Imagine the fastest, safest, earth-munching all-terrain vehicle in the world. Then imagine the opposite. Three wheels, half a horse power and more fun than any other vehicle on planet earth the humble Rickshaw is undoubtedly the ultimate long distance, off road machine, despite being designed for short distances on road. Now imagine trying to get the resultant engineering question mark over the Himalayas or the Rajasthan desert. Route? Starting in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. A ludricously picturesque setting with forts that sprout out of the desert and finely sculptured Jain temples, it stands on a ridge of sandstone and is aptly nicknamed 'The Golden City'. Where better to begin an epic three wheeling bout of glorious mayhem than the very heart of the Rajasthan desert? And ending in Cochin, in a splendid corner of Kerala, oozing with freshest of fresh fish and more historical significance and cultural intrigue than we can throw our rickshaw at. It’s the perfect place to catch a coastal sunset, enjoy a cucumber sandwich and regale tales of adventurism from the road with our fellow Rickshaw Runners. You can follow us live in the Happy-Go-Tukkie-mobile on the Adventurists website as we drive down the continent, and see where we are in relation to the other 59 Tukkies. Why are we doing this? Why not?! We live in a world begging to be explored and enjoyed. We heard about this and said yeaaaaaah! Joakim and Lou are friends who travelled together in Oz for 6 weeks with a crew, and decided then that this would be a mission tackled together. Raising money for the Malawi Education Project and Frank Water, our hope is that we can smash through our target of £3,000 collectively and raise gazillions of cash for the chosen charities. We fund the whole adventure ourselves, but have high hopes and great plans for a bit of sponsorship to help us out... either way we're going!! And we are not alone, there is another TukTuk team – The Mother Tuckers, expertly driven I’m sure by Kevie Fitzpatrick & Collettie Francheville. Our parents are banned from looking too closely at what this all entails for obvious reasons. When? We depart on New Years Day 2012, having had a crash (hope not) course in driving it, and having made the finishing touches to pimping it up… we’re thinking fury material to let it’s hair blow in the breeze… and should arrive in two whole pieces two-ish weeks and 5,000km later. Please sponsor us to do this… the more we raise, the more likely we are to help make brilliant things happen in the world… and all because we razzed a TukTuk through India! Please please dig deep… deeper, go on! As much as you can afford! I doubt we will do a fundraiser this nuts again… make this the one!!
