Thanks for taking the time to visit our Team H &J JustGiving page.

At the beginning of the year, we racked our brains as to what we would do, this year, for our annual charity fundraiser - one bright spark (who shall remain anonymous of the time being!) suggested something physical for a change, like a bike ride.  At H &J we do so love a challenge; we teamed up with our friends at Children in Crisis to tackle the London to Paris bike ride, 11th -14th June... the rest as they say is history!

Our riders were part of a 35 strong challenge; at the start a mix of teams and individuals, but by Paris, having bonded over tough hill climbs, saddle sores and disappointing football results, they were all firm friends!

Day one was the toughest with 118km to cover from London to Dover and with plenty of lashing rain and the South Downs to conquer.  The group spread out over the day, but all stopped together for breaks, with support vehicles at the front and back to hand out supplies and mend broken bikes.  The ferry terminal at Dover was a welcome sight and after the crossing and a short coach ride to Dieppe, everyone slept like babies.

Day two was more enjoyable with pleasant sunshine and gently rolling countryside and only 88km to cycle.  At the overnight stop, a large screen TV was set up for the England game and the beers flowed, but with little to celebrate and the promise of an early start on Sunday, nobody was too late to bed.

Final day and a 5.30am wake-up call for the last leg of 108km into Paris.  The whole group crossed the line together and after much-needed showers met up for a celebratory meal in the evening.  Awards were handed out by the Children in Crisis team and Leo took home one for teamwork, puncture mending and morale boosting!

The fantastic news is, we have now raised over our £5.5k total for sponsorship for this very worthy cause - Children in Crisis. Many thanks to all of those that have been kind enough to sponsor us and help us beat that total!
