Harini's Big Shear for Reaching the Unreached · 9 March 2016

RTU is a grassroots organisation, working with the poorest children and families in rural communities in South India to change their lives for good. We build decent housing, drill wells, run schools, promote rural enterprise, and care for 1,000 orphaned children in 4 Children's Villages.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My team page explains just why I am planning on shaving my head on 9th March in a bid to gain your donations for these two wonderful charities. It can be found here https://www.justgiving.com/teams/thebigshear

Now, I want to tell you about Reaching the Unreached.

This is a grassroots organisation working in rural villages in South India to help the poorest people. They provide healthcare, clean water, housing, education and support to disadvantaged families. The charity has also created four children’s villages, housing 1000 orphans with ‘foster’ mothers and providing them with education. £5 could provide two children with meals in school for a month. For £800, we could provide enough money to build a village house for a family. For £1,100, we could pay for a well that brings clean water to 45 families. We could make a tangible difference to the lives of these people, just by putting our pennies together. Find out more about Reaching the Unreached here

If you're on a computer, in the gallery section you will find some photos that showcase my hair and hopefully convince you that raising money by shaving it off is a decent idea. Many thanks to Sophia Crüwell for the awesome photography.
