The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

I did it!  I managed to pound my way round 26.2 miles of the London marathon course last Sunday (22nd) - along with 36,000 or so other runners, more than 700 of them raising money for Macmillan.  My official time was 4:26:34 which I was very happy with as I achieved my target of finishing in under 4.5 hours (MRS WOOLLARD, HARRIET (GBR) ).

Time to raise the money now!  I am holding 2 fundraising events in June, both in a marquee at Scotsgrove End (my house) - the first, a Summer Fair, will be from 10am-4pm on Thursday 7th June.  See www.macmillansummerfair.co.uk for details. And the second a party on Saturday 9th June, where I've got a great band signed up, along with licensed bar and barbecue.  All the details about the party can be found at www.scotsgrove.co.uk .  Would be great to see you at both of these events!

The scary cancer facts: There are today three times as many people in Britain living with cancer than there were 30 years ago - over a million people have had a cancer diagnosis and a frightening one in three of us will be diagnosed at some point in our lives.  The aim of Macmillan Cancer Support is quite simply to improve the lives of people affected by cancer - they provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support, as well as pushing for better cancer care.   You only need to look on the Macmillan website - or talk to someone who has had first hand experience - to see the phenomenal positive impact that the charity has.  All of the services are offered free, with 99% of them funded entirely through the generosity of supporters.

I know that you are probably hit all the time for sponsoring one thing or another, but hopefully the fact that it is for this great cause will persuade you that any donation you make will be very much appreciated as well as being put to extremely good use.   So please support my events in June - or if you are unable to come along to either of them, perhaps you would be able to make a donation through this site instead.

If you would like more information about Macmillan and the support they offer, please visit their website at: www.macmillan.org.uk

Many thanks!
Harriet
