About my charity
:
The Ellen MacArthur Trust
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Each child has the challenge of helping sail the yachts throughout the voyage and takes part in all aspects of the trip from sailing the yacht to the washing up!
The children come from all over the country, including Northern Ireland, London, Essex, Sheffield, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Nottingham & Ellen’s birthplace, Derbyshire.

| My personal message: |
Wowweeeee!! I completed the London Marathon!! Thank you everyone so very much for all your support, financial and emotional, it has been rather a roller coaster with an injury and consequent training problems but it was everyone who got me through! I ran the first 19miles then had to resort to walk/running the rest which was incredibly difficult and my legs were just telling me to stop, but I didn't listen and crossed the finish line in 5hours 17minutes, and yes, I was smiling! I am still raising money for the Ellen MacArthur Trust to send 4 children on their dream sailing holiday to help recover from horrible illnesses like cancer. The pain in my legs will last little more than a few days, but these kids go through so much more. Lets all dig deep for them to give them a break and rediscover the joys that life can hold.
