Story
On 04 September 2010, members of Harrogate Round Table will attempt to canoe the 20 miles from Boroughbridge to York in order to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit of Harrogate District Hospital.
The Special Care Baby Unit has ten special care cots, providing short and medium term care for sick and preterm infants. The unit provides both equipment and expertise to care for babies who require specialised nursing. It has been identified that all 6 of the unit's intravenous infusion pumps require replacing. These pumps allow nurses to give the babies a dedicated fluid volume which reduces the risks of infusing too much fluid. Whilst not cheap at £2,500 a piece, replacements are vital to enable the unit to continue to operate at full capacity. It is our aim to provide sufficient funds to replace at least 2 of these pumps.
More information on the work carried out at the unit can be found at:

Training and selection for the event is both ongoing and arduous. With good luck and a tail wind, it is anticipated / hoped that the event will take 9hrs (approx.) to complete.
Please support us in supporting this vital, local charity.
Many Thanks,
Harrogate Round Table Members
