Story
Prostate cancer is now killing one man every hour in the UK. Shockingly, although it's almost as common as breast cancer, it gets a fraction of the research funding. Highly promising research projects are ready to go right now, they just need the money to get started. You might save someone's life.
We are running the Paris marathon on the 5th April 2009, and there are many hard yards to cover before we even step foot in Paris. The training is already underway and anything you can donate will help motivate us on this challenge, anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Presently we have no target sum in mind, simply to raise as much money as we can.
Prostate cancer has affected all of our lives personally, and we see this as a real opportunity to take a stance against a disease which often doesn't receive the exposure it requires. It also is a great chance to lose those bellies aquired in the student lifestyle...!
Jamie's grandfather sadly passed away in 1995 when Jamie was just starting prep school. Starting a new school is always challenging and the added emotional burden made Jamie determined to fundraise for a cause so close to his heart. Harry's grandfather was successfully treated in 2004 and though the experience will live long in the memory, the family are grateful that is still with them and in great spirits at the moment. Aled's father, Colin, was diagnosed and successfully treated in 2000 but many others have not been so fortunate. I can still remember the fear and anxiety over the uncertainty over those months, and those emotions are as raw as ever.
Perhaps most inspirational is Ed Farley's (a.k.a. Dupree) motivation, apparently it will be 'great for banter with the ladies' but we are just glad that he doesn't just follow the crowd!
Everyday new families go through that same turmoil, we are doing something to try to ease some those problems.
All money donated will go straight to Prostate Cancer Research and will save lives. Thank you!
