The Britain-Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) is a charitable organisation who provide, what we would call, basic healthcare resources and training for a large, and ever-expanding, proportion of Nepal's population.
In a nut shell, the BNMT is involved with TB and HIV/AIDS clinics, achieving safe motherhood, providing basic drugs, and, controlling diarrhoeal diseases and acute respiratory infections.
If you want to learn more about the BNMT the following pages will be of interest:

Some key bit's of information about who you'll be helping by donating to the BNMT:
* Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world - half the population life on less than $1 (68 pence) per day, and more than three quarters are surviving on less than 2$ per day.
* Less than 4% of births are attended by skilled health personnel.
* Nepal's maternal mortality is one of the highest in the world - 1 in 24 women will die in childbirth.
* More than 1 in 10 children die before the age of 5.
This is what your money can do:
| £ 10 | trains a female community health volunteer.
|
| £ 20 | saves the lives of 100 children with acute respiratory infection
|
| £ 35 | cures a patient of TB
|
| £ 100 | buys 40 packets of clean home delivery kits to protect mothers and babies from infection.
|
| £ 500 | would educate and mobilise 30 young people in the fight against HIV/AIDS
|
| £ 5000 | builds a primary health care centre to provide basic health services for rural communities
|
| £10,000 | develops an intervention strategy to improve the health care delivery system for mothers and children in the mountainous districts of Nepal. |
In aid of this worthy charitable organisation, the Liverpool Wilderness Medical Society (LWMS) will be collectively-climbing the height of Mont Blanc (don't ask why this moutain was chosen!) at our local indoor climbing wall (Awesome Walls, http://www.awesomewalls.co.uk/). The climb will be some time after the Christmas holidays but that may be subject to change.
Every little helps, so give whatever you want/can. Don't hold back if you can only spare small change, you can withold you name if you want.
Thank you very much to all those who donate!!!
Harry.
