An Appeal for funds to assist the development of Triratna Buddhist Community activities in Ontario, Canada. I'm Harshaprabha, Ordained into the the Trirantna Buddhist Order in 1982. I've been visiting Toronto and Guelph since 2004 on a bi-annual basis and have the vision to establish a Triratna Buddhist Community presence in the two cities and maybe further afield! My intention is to raise funds to let those interested make contact with our movement by visiting Centres, Groups and Friends. Support would also be given to Friends to go on Triratna Buddhist Community retreats in N. America and Great Britain. In this way develop and understanding of the culture and history of this unique Buddhist Movement.
I would also use the funds to purchase cushions, mats, DVDs, and books as a resource for new Groups. There is a small group at present in Guelph. The money would act as a catalyst to encourage the growth of the Triratna Buddhist Community in Ontario.
I would hope to raise £2,000.00 every year through your kindness and generosity.
In these uncertain times in the World it would be good to open up new locations for the spread of the Dharma as translated by Urgyen Sangharakshita which has benefited so many people throughout the World.
Should I exceed the target then I would also use the funds to make more regular visits. The donations would help to build a bridge, a gateway and support for those presently showing interest in the Triratna Buddhist Community and to those who have just come across it. I also hope that it would be a catalyst to allow me to change my lifestyle and spend longer periods in Eastern Canada.
Donating through JUST GIVING is quick, easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the Buddha-Dhamma. The Triratna Buddhist Community's Indrajala Trust receives your money directly and will pass it on to me. Furthermore, if you are a UK taxpayer, your gift is increased by the addition of 25% Gift Aid, plus 3% supplement. Thanks to all who read this,Harshaprabha (Ipswich, UK) (ps - I'm the one on the left of both photos. The largest group photo was taken at the end of the first residential Triratna retreat in Ontario, November 2008.
