Story
All money raised this year will be donated to Cancer Research UK. Yes, they are a very large charity, and many will argue that efforts should be made to support the smaller charities out there, the ones that don’t get all the headlines. Of course the smaller charities shouldn’t be forgotten, I’m not going to disagree with that. But “cancer” isn’t just one specific type of disease; what we call “cancer” could refer to any number of diseases, all affecting different parts of the body with different symptoms, life expectancy, survival rates, etc. There is a very high probability that, throughout your lifetime, you will know someone who will be affected by one form of cancer or another. We probably all have personal stories about how cancer has affected our friends and family – I certainly have – and the chances are that these stories involve different types of cancer.
Cancer Research UK is working to fight over 200 different types of cancer. I can’t think of anything else that I want to support more wholeheartedly
