Story

Hi I´m running the London Marathon on Sunday, 13th April 2008. I´d like to raise money for Save the Tiger (as part of the WWF). I´d like to raise as much as possible because it is a cause that I care about.

Since I can remember, I´ve loved tigers and been fascinated by them (probably the most enigmatic creature on God´s earth). The first story I ever wrote (as a 4 year old I think) was about tigers. Also, my dad´s village in Bangladesh used to be home to tigers. He tells me he used to see them all the time in the Sunderbans forest. Although the forest is still beautiful, tiger sightings are an increasingly rare occurrence.

Sadly there are people who seem to hate them, killing them for their skins, their habitat and using them for medicines. As a result, tigers are endangered. 3 of the 9 subspecies are extinct and the remaining 6 could follow suit. I originally wanted to raise money to preserve the Bengal Tiger, but all the sub species are just as incredible, and just as troubled.

If you have the time, read through the interesting wikipedia link.

As for my marathon attempt - I started training 5 weeks ago and am taking it quite seriously. I run or go to the gymn most days and have been eating and drinking sensibly. This is my 2nd marathon but I´m actually preparing properly this time! Another good reason to sponsor me!

Thanks in advance (every penny counts so it doesn´t matter how small your donation is). The easiest way to donate is through credit card, on this site. If you´re in the UK and pay tax you get gift aid of 28% on top.
