The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

For those of you who know me well, you'll know I've been wanting to run a half marathon for a while and the kick up the butt I needed was my fellow Year Here team around me doing it for such a great reason. 

What is Year Here for me??? I am being supported for this year through great training, placements and people to develop my own social enterprise that will help solve one micro part of the social issue around education inequality. (Check out the YH website for more general info http://bit.ly/2GgsVNy) 

The Year Here programme is a big sacrifice for anyone but the impact for social change is incredible. However, if you don't have savings or the parental support around you then it's pretty hard to participate so we want to raise money to help those who have the potential for social impact, regardless of their background / financial circumstances. 

I'm  asking for your support to meet our group target of £5,000. This will enable one Fellow to participate in the Year Here ten-month programme, delivering hundreds of hours of voluntary work, with the potential to go on to change the lives of thousands of people. Please help us to help them change the world!

ps. It will be a really fun day out and you can come and see how red my face gets :-/ MAY 20th!!!!
