Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. We are taking part in the UK Ironman on 7th September 2008; a 3.8km swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26 mile marathon to finish. We are raising funds for the Calum Johnstone Sports Scholarship. Calum was a pupil at Abbey Grange CofE High School, Leeds, where we both work as teachers. In November 2005 14 year old Calum, died after a short illness. Calum was a fantastic and energetic teenager who loved life - and loved sport. He was a good rugby player and a popular member of Moortown RUFC where he captained his team. He looked forward to his annual skiing trip and was a keen runner.
As a tribute to his energy and enthusiasm a scholarship fund was set up by Calum's cousin and Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust - Steve Grainger MBE. Steve kick-started the fundraising by running the 2006 London Marathon and since then other family and friends have joined in raising more money.
On an annual basis (until 2012) the Youth Sport Trust with the involvement of Calum's family will identify a number of talented 14 year olds and help them achieve their sporting potential.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Youth Sport Trust will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you. Many thanks for your interest and please donate if at all possible. Haydn and Andy
