Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It has been a goal of mine to complete a marathon. I can't say that I am a keen long distance runner, however back in September the Paris Marathon seemed like a 'manageable' challenge.  Now, with less than seven weeks til race day, the fear has definitely started to kick-in.  

I have decided to partly represent Haylodge Hospital, Peebles, in Paris on April 6th 2014.  I think it takes someone really special to be a nurse, and those working at Haylodge do not receive enough recognition.  My Grandad lost his battle with metastatic lung cancer in May 2011, however he had requested to spend his final days back home in Peebles.  My family were constantly in and out of the hospital, spending as much time as possible with our 'Supergramps'.  Although we were attending in the most terrible of circumstances, I cannot thank the nurses enough for the care and empathy they showed towards both my Grandad and my family. The nurses literally could not do enough for you - it's amazing how even something so small as a cup of tea at the right moment can make a situation feel 100x better.  I wish to give something back and to highlight the hard work, beyond the call of duty, that those who work at Haylodge undertake.  

If you choose to donate, please leave me a song that I can put on my iPod for the race (preferably something with a good beat) - there is no way I can think of four hours of music on my own!  It would be good to have something from everyone to give me encouragement on the course.
