'The Hayride’ is a charity cycle ride organised by Chartered Surveyors and Property Consults King Sturge. The route from Hay-on-Wye to covers approximately 66 miles via Three Cocks, Talgarth, Langorse, Bwlch, Talybont, Torpan, Pontsticill, Merthyr, Aberfan, Abercynon, Pontypridd, Treforest, Taffs Well, Morganstown and along the Taff Trail into .
The event was conceived in 1999 and has to date raised over £65,000 for charities in Wales including The George Thomas Hospice, Paratet, Noah’s Ark Appeal (Children’s Hospital for Wales), Barnardos, NCH, The Deri View Primary School, LATCH, Pontypridd Children’s Contact Centre, Wooden Spoon and The Joshua Foundation. The inaugural event in 1999 was completed by 10 riders but in 2008 the numbers had swelled to over 50, and in 2009 attracted 65 riders.
