My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

It's five years since I last donned the trainers and vest to run, walk and crawl over 26 miles of London streets. Last time you all helped me raise a fabulous £3,000 for New Ways. I know that times are a bit harder right now than they were back then, but please sponsor me for as much as you can. It would be fantastic if we could raise the same again this year.

New Ways is a cause very close to my heart since I first became involved with a variety of fundraising events ten years ago. Apart from a great sense of pride in being involved with so many loyal and generous supporters of New Ways across the financial services community in London, I have had the privilege to meet many of the wonderful people who administer the community projects and provide the nutritional nursery schools “on the ground” in Kenya. I have found their vision and dedication, optimism and humility to be both humbling and inspirational. Clearly raising money is a vital part of any charity’s work, but when I talk to the people who live their lives to convert the finance into tangible support for others less fortunate and when I see the photographs of what they have achieved and the positive effect they are having written on the beaming faces of healthy, happy children I realise that our part is but one small element. Nevertheless, it also shows how important it is that we keep supporting them financially – despite but also because of these challenging times for us all economically. So I would be delighted if you were able to sponsor me.

Running 26+ miles is a big challenge but this year I aim to run it non-stop and to finish inside four and a half hours. No, I’m not a particularly fast runner! But please help to give me that final push of motivation in those last gruelling miles knowing that with your support the money we will be raising will make a huge difference to the lives of many children in Africa.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: New Ways gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
