The photo above was taken for my work ID badge, 4 days before I had my lumpectomy. I hate it! I had gone into work and cried for an hour after someone asked me if I was alright, then I had to put a face on and go to have my photo taken! Every time I look at it, I remember how very afraid I was, of the cancer, the treatment, and the not knowing. I've never felt so alone and terrified. I can see the fear in my eyes... Day therapy and counselling at Pendleside Hospice did a great deal to help me through all that, and took away a lot of the fear. I met other cancer patients who freely shared their experiences and gave me advice and encouragement. We even laughed together - a lot!!!
Pendleside is a very special place, with fantastic staff and the care they provide is second to none. They rely heavily on public donations to keep going, and I want to give something back. So I'm doing this sponsored slim for them, and in memory of my very dear friend Janet, who also benefited from their care and encouragement.
I'm asking people to sponsor me to lose 56lb (4 stone), although I shall carry on slimming a bit further after I reach that goal. Remember - every single penny raised will make a difference to a Pendleside patient! Please give generously, it will be very much appreciated.
