Hello!
I'm hoping that you have reached this page because you're my friend, I've hassled you at work or I just generally approached you because you look like you have money.
PLEASE sponsor me to walk to Everest Base Camp! I'm leaving the UK on 14th Dec and am back on 1st Jan after (hopefully) trekking for 14 days to reach Everest Base Camp at a height of 5545m. It's long, it's high and I'm a bit scared despite putting in lots of training. Nothing can prepare you for the altitude - not even jogging on the treadmill while chain smoking 20 Marlboro red (apologies to the gym). I shall do my best though and it's all for a good cause.
I'm donating the money to Children of the Gambia. It's a very small charity from West Yorkshire and I decided to choose this charity because just a small amount of money will make such a difference. A difference that can be felt right away and seen by the people that donate. It costs just £28 per month to employ one teacher and the charity's aim for 2008/9 is to rebuild a larger school with three classrooms, a new kitchen, and adequate toilets for attendance by all children in the area. At the moment there's just one small room!
There's more info here http://childrenofthegambia.webeden.co.uk/
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children of the Gambia gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So, even if it's the price of a Christmas card or a Ferrero Rocher, ALL donations are gratefully accepted and go towards giving a bunch of deserving kids an education.
Thank you :o)
