No young person should feel alone. At Break, we support young people in, around and beyond care. Through fostering, homes, mentoring and wellbeing support. We help build confidence, create strong relationships, and will always be there with lifelong support and love. Put simply, we care differently.

Story

09th July '09     Two days to go until the final run! Its been an amazing experience and we have met so many lovely people along the way - there seems to be a real community of runners who do the whole series and keep going back year after year to these amazing islands. I have now completed 3 of the half-marathons, gradually getting slower as the routes get more hilly /my achilles tendon gets more sore... so will see how my ankle feels about doing the bonus 4th race this Saturday in Harris! This will be Cagger's 3rd race to complete the Heb 3 - fingers crossed its not as hot and sunny as Barra last weekend. Drizzle is good!

Thank you all so so much for your donations: you have smashed the target amount and i know the charity is so grateful, especially at a time of recession. It really does make a difference when the gloom hits at about Mile 11 and you want to scream 'WHY??' (if only you had the energy)...  Remembering that so much good will come out of the money raised really does seem a good reason to keep on running.  THANK YOU ALL!

22nd May '09     After months of training in wind, snow, hail and a teeny bit of Northern sun, its half-marathon time! Cags and I are taking part in the Heb 3 event - a series of half marathons on the Outer Hebrides - and between us we are doing a total of SEVEN half-marathons over the next two months.

I know that times are tough, but anything you can spare will be very, very much appreciated. Break is a charity giving the parents of severely disabled children or young adults some respite from the care they provide by giving the children a fully supported holiday. I think most parents will understand the need for the occasional break from their kids - so imagine how important it would be if you are still caring for them on the most basic levels when they reach 13...19...24....

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: BREAK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!

Half-marathon dates: Stornoway 23rd May, Skye 13th June, Barra 4th July and Harris 11th July. There are in fact a total of 5 marathons and you are supposed to chose 3 to complete the Heb 3 challenge... but due to a mix-up of dates, I'm doing 4. Doh. Any suggestions for my ipod play list are most welcome...
