Story
Being the only members of the Hedley Lewis family who had not ‘enjoyed’ 26.2 miles of running, we felt it was our turn! We are now well into our training which is going well, despite the British freeze and our reluctance to run on a hangover – weekends have to be planned well! We are really enjoying it, and regularly run past Big Ben trying to get familiar with the final moments of the race! We are running for the very rewarding and successful charity British Red Cross. It is a fantastic humanitarian organisation that does so much across the world, helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. British Red Cross are part of a global and voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies, however it is also locally in the UK that their such pivotal work occurs. They enable vulnerable people prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities and when the crisis is over, will help them to recover and move on with their lives. We want to give something (alongside 4+ hours of strain!) to such a great charity who work tirelessly helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Please support us in what we know is a great cause, and bring us closer to our target of £3600! We will be so grateful of any donations, and makes our endless training and miles down the river seem more worthwhile as a great achievement for a great cause. All support is so important, and so if you are at a loose end on 26th April then head down to the course and be sure to throw us a Mars Bar or abuse, however kind you’re feeling! Fancy Dress is of course in the pipeline so you won’t miss us! Thank you so much for any help and we look forward to seeing you all soon. Mel and Maz XXX
