Hello

Now for anyone who doesn't know by now, I am planning to cycle solo the length of Britain to raise money for Yorkhill Children Foundation (charity number SCO07856). I am due to begin this crazy adventure on the 15 of June 2009. The cycle is going to be over 1000 miles, and I plan to complete this in seven days, or if I don’t complete it get as far as I can in those seven days. That works out at around 140 miles per day, not having much cycling experience I know this is going to be a very very tough challenge.

Just a little about my back ground and why I want to put myself through this. I consider myself to be a very fortunate person, with the things that have come my way in life. My professional career as a rugby player has put me in a privileged situation. Earlier this year I was put on the fund raising committee of Glasgow Warriors, so far we have raised small amounts of money, so I’m planning this bike ride to raise enough money that could impact and change the life of someone less fortunate.

The aim of the foundation is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families, by funding medical equipment, research, and treatment facilities.

Hopefully you will see this as a good cause and dig deep, but any donation would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve set up a fundraising page, please sponsor me!!
