Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

1 in 100 people have coeliac disease, yet only 36% are diagnosed. Coeliac UK empowers everyone affected, breaking down barriers, improving everyday life, offering trusted support and advancing research towards a cure. And we do it all so that one day, no one’s life will be limited by gluten.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is my first (and last!!) marathon attempt and I am a little (well very) scared. I am aiming to raise money for coeliac uk as my daughter was diagnosed with coeliac disease 4 years ago after becoming very ill. The difference in her from then is amazing! Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. Imagine never being able to eat bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits, beer etc. Izzy has dealt with it amazingly and knows clearly what she can and can't eat, but it isn't easy. She is hates being the odd one out at school and often will refuse party invitations as she dislikes standing out with her own food.
