Story

Hi  and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am doing the Edinburgh Marathon (26 miles) on 31st May  - aaaaaaaaagh 3 days to go now!!!!  and the Great North Run ( a mere 13 miles!) on 20th Sept and ask for your support to raise money for the Cardiomyopathy association. It is one of the lesser  known heart charities but does a sterling job in raising awareness and offering support to sufferers and their families.

My dad was diagnosed a few years ago with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which affects the heart muscle thickening. Three years ago he  had a very successful operation which has changed his quality of life enormously. As this is a hereditory condition all of our family has to be screened regularly and we are undergoing genetic testing.

Cardiomyopathy affects people of all ages including babies and it is the most common cause of sudden deaths in under 35 year olds.

This charity is close to my heart - quite literally!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiomyopathy Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
