'HELLO HEALTHY' INS & DYSCOVER

A huge thank you for visiting this JustGiving page, supporting my two chosen charities.  I work as a Speech & Language Therapist for both organisations and am able to vouch for how valuable further funds would be.  Your donation will be split equally between them both.  My aim is to say 'hello to healthy' over a 6 month period, starting 1st March 2013. This will involve unnaturally frequent bouts of exercise and a drastic change to my previously 'lardy' diet.  A key factor in stroke prevention is fitness and weight control.  So....

INS (Integrated Neurological Services) - neuro-support, for life

INS provides invaluable ongoing support to people in the boroughs of Richmond and Hounslow with a variety of neurological conditions (for instance, stroke, parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis) and also to their families/carers.  A multi-disciplinary team offers a varied and imaginative choice of groups/clubs/activities and takes an individually tailored approach when working with clients. 

INS would really benefit from funding for an ipad to let us assess if it could help people with their communication and participation.

Dyscover - rediscovering communication

Dyscover provides support and opportunities for people with aphasia.  This disability is caused by a stroke, head injury or other illness and affects the ability to communicate (speak, understand, read, write).  Dyscover provide a programme of groups, courses and activities from centres in Surrey, to support people with aphasia (and their family/carers) to regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Dyscover would really benefit from funding to further develop their successful choir - this offers an incredible opportunity for people with aphasia to communicate and participate.
