My story
Thanks for visiting the fundraising page for the victims of 30th October 08 Assam's bombs. Till the last count as on 7th November, 81 persons, all civilians, had been killed in the string of 12 explosions. The maximum fatalities of 45 occurred in the capital, Dispur and adjoining Guwahati.
In the immediate tragic aftermath of the bombs, local people, united in grief, steps in to help blast injured. Now, victims need medium and long term support which we can provide together. For example, £100 will pay for part of the tuition fee and other expenditure for 1 year of a school or college going student who lost his or her parent, perhaps the only bread earner of the family. £100 will also part pay for a course for a youth who perhaps likes to train in a vocation to gain a job. £100 will also go a long way to rehabilitate a female widower in meaningful employment like sewing and knitting.
The Alliance for Community Capacity Building in Northeast India and Just for Assam, a group that come together in response to this atrocity, will ensure that your donation is used most effectively to make a difference to as many victim's lives as possible complementing helps given by other agencies and government. The charity will keep you posted about the progress made with your donation if you wish.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. The charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
