Story

Hi,

I'm David Nzuruba and I'm raising funds for the UCKG HelpCentre by running 10km on the 20th February 2010! (please note the change of date due to adverse weather conditions affecting training!)

I'm sure you've read, seen or even experienced first hand problem with young people carrying and using lethal weapons in London. Respect, protection, fear, power... whatever the reason for carrying weapons, the fact is every day more youths are dying and the situation is affecting everyone - parents, friends and society as a whole. But just because it's happening, it doesn't mean we have to accept it!

I'm running from the newest HelpCentre in Hackney Central to the newly built HelpCentre in Peckham - coincidentally two areas of London that suffer the most from youth crime. I'm doing this to raise funds for the UCKG HelpCentre and of course the VYG (Victory Youth Group) which is the youth group of the HelpCentre, and engages in the ongoing Where U Going? Campaign to battle against the problem described.

The Where U Going? Campaign (visit www.whereugoing.org) is a project that helps young people reach their full potential by helping them make the right choice about their future. It involves one-to-one, no nonsense advice and practical day-to-day things that you can do to help yourself. Does it really work? Well, many of them come from broken families, drugs and street lifestyle and have found real help to get out of it... read their stories at  www.whereugoing.org/testimonies.html Being a charity with no government funding, they need funds to help them reach more young (and not so young) people and therefore we need your sponsorship!!

Help me to personally reach my target by donating through Justgiving. It's quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me.
