Story
I have never ran more than a few miles before (in one go!)
My son Alfie was diagnosed with autism 2 years ago and to say that this has turned our lives upside down is an understatement! My wife Ny and I have been through the hardest few years we have ever had and this has also had a huge impact on our daughter Ella and the rest of our immediate families lives.
Autism is such a complicated condition and often misunderstood, my son does not look disabled but he is, at 5 years old he still has very limited speech and although we have tried to keep him in a mainstream school this has been unsuccessful. If it was not for the support of good friends and likeminded autism charities we would not have coped with things the way we have, I feel that I want to give something back to those charities that support people with autism and their families.
Last year I started running in fits and starts and I now feel that I could be capable of running the great north run (with the right training over the next 6 months!)
Wish me luck and show your support by donating here on my dedicated fundraising page.
Thank you in advance!
Chris
