The Sale and Altrincham Advertiser and the Stretford and Urmston Advertiser is hoping to raise up to £50,000 to fund vital patient liaison services for Henshaws Society for Blind People, at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

THE roads of Trafford will become centre stage on Sunday for up to 7,000 runners taking part in this weekend'sGreater Manchester Marathon.
The run will include a total of 55 competitors who are lining up to run for the Advertiser's £50,000 appeal for Helping Henshaws.
The marathon  returns in Trafford, after a 10 year absence, on a route which starts off at 9am, from Longford Park, Stretford and takes in Stretford, Sale, Altrincham and Partington.
Henshaws fundraiser Hannah Saxon said: “We are really looking forward to the marathon this weekend.
“It provides our supporters with another opportunity to raise vital funds for our services and the sponsorship raised by our 55 runners will be a fantastic boost to the fundraising target.
“We have runners from far and wide travelling to Manchester to take part in this great event and we hope that many people will come down on the day to cheer them on.”
Race organisers suggest that spectators should use Metrolink as the best way to get to various spectating points. The following Metrolink stations are convenient for the Greater Manchester Marathon including: Warwick Road,  race start and first mile including Lancashire Cricket Club and MUFC's Old Trafford stadia; Media City,  mile 2 Imperial War Museum; Stretford - mile 4 to 5 - Kingsway, Chester Road; Sale - mile 6 - Sale town centre; Brooklands,  mile 8; Altrincham - mile 11 to 12 - Altrincham town centre; Stretford - mile 25 to 26 final stretch along Kingsway and Edge Lane

Latest Events - A BAG pack is coming up at Morrison’s in Chorlton on Friday 25 May 25. Henshaws are looking for volunteers to muster till points and help pack customers bags from 10am to 4pm. Ideally, Henshaws is looking for two or three people to help over the busier time periods of 11am to 2pm. If anyone would like to help out contact Michelle Grogan on 786 3656.

The appeal figure smashed through the £25,000 barrier on March 12, through a combination of generosity of the Advertiser readers and a variety of events organised throughout the past nine months. Please, please help out if you can.
