We provide emergency shelter and tools to support families overwhelmed by disaster

Story

My wife is Japanese & I spent several years living in Japan. Fortunately none of our family are affected, but hunderds of thousands are not so lucky.

I'm running my first Marathon on April 10th & my 8 year old son is running the kid's mile looking to break his PB of 6min35.

We're running in support of SHELTER BOX who provide emergency shelter and life saving supplies to disaster zones. They were in Japan within 24hrs & are providing vitally important aid & assistance to those affected. ShelterBox news in Japan:News

Please continue to read below to see what will happen to donations:

The box: ShelterBox's solution to disaster response is as simple as it is effective. They deliver the essentials a family needs to survive in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

The Japanese government  have said emergency shelter is the key priority for survivors. The latest reports state that more than 500,000 people have been made homeless by the  disaster, so SHELTER BOX is a great way to help these people.

"ShelterBox have immediately responded to the catastrophe in Japan. Their quick response would not be possible without the generous donations of their supporters. Donating on this page will ensure ShelterBox are always ready to provide shelter, warmth and dignity to families made homeless by disaster as soon as it strikes."

ShelterBoxes have already left for Japan and even more boxes will be sent in the days and weeks to come. This quick and vital response is possible due to donations like this and allows ShelterBox to keep prepositioned stock around the world that can be sent immediately to help.

"The aid which will be sent to Japan in the days and weeks to come will have been funded by donations previously received. These would have ensured our aid and resources were in place, ready to go as soon as disaster strikes. While the donations we now receive may be used to fund aid sent to Japan, they may also be used to restock all of our equipment so that next time we are needed, we can respond just as quickly."

Please help.
