Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

I am sure that many of the readers of this page have children or nieces and nephews. Can you imagine the pain of knowing that your child has a terminal illness which is curable, but due to lack of resources and funding your child may die? What a horrendous thought, but in reality this may well happen. (As happened to Anthony Nolan!)

I personally do not know of anyone who needs a bone marrow transplant but the very idea that children and their parents can be put through such a torment made me realise that this was the charity for me, and hopefully for you.

I ran the GNR 6 years ago for the Anthony Nolan Trust and managed to raise approx £560, please help me achieve and better that result this time.

Why have I not run since 2001?

I had 2 road traffic accidents within 18 months of each other which left me ill and disabled for  many years, actually up until September last year when I was given an healing at my local church. In December I received another healing which enabled me to go the gym for the first time in 6 years on 6 Jan 07. I managed to run 1 mile and walked like Frankenstein for a week, I knew then I would be running this years GNR, even though I still have 3 prolapsed disks in my back, a trapped nerve and damaged nervous system. With the help of god and you, we will succeed.

I am currently running 4 X 5 miles a week and did an 8 mile run at the weekend, I will keep you posted as I make more progress.

Traning Updates

May/June 06

I managed to do a 9.5 Mile run last Saturday and repeated it today  (2nd June), I will probably stick with my 5 mile runs through the week but plan to increase my long weekend run distance, and due to the pain i was in after this weeks run I have decided to only do a long run every other weekend.

Please visit the Anthony Nolan trust website for more information.
