Why Steps...(Iain Henderson)

Back in May 2005 my daughter Katie was diagnosed as having a dislocated hip (DDH) at the age of 13 months.  This was something that should have been picked up at birth or at her 6 week check up (clicky hips), but was not.  As a result Katie was in and out of hospital for almost 6 months and spent most of that time in and out of plaster casts that covered from under her arms to her ankles (not very nice for a girl just finding her feet).

This is where Steps came in, they helped us enormously with support and also providing specialist tables etc for her to use.

Steps are looking to conduct research between now and early 2009 on current practices for detection of DDH and also what can be done, we want to help them by raising much needed funds for their campaign...see below.
