<p>Thank you for visiting our page.</p> <p>Our Team consists of 10 members Michael Sandelands, Simon Ward, Mike Little,&nbsp; Liz Sandelands, Suzanne Roberts,&nbsp; Wendy Navin,&nbsp; Natalie Smith,&nbsp;&nbsp; Diane Smalley, Matthew Ward, and Jane Shaw.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: small;">After heavy overnight rain and a very early start Sunday 18</span><span style="font-size: xx-small;">th </span><span style="font-size: small;">September (eventually) dawned bright and fair with areas of early morning mist. This was autumn in the Lake District at its prettiest and perfect weather for cycling. <p>After a few bike checks and air in some tyres we set off in a group at 7:50am. It however became apparent by the first feed station in Cockermouth that we should split into two groups so this report centres mainly around the slightly quicker group.</p> <p>We made reasonable progress to Lorton where we had a brief stop to refuel before the most difficult part of the route- the climb up Whinlatter pass. The climb went without incident although it has to be said that two of our number who shall remain nameless (Wendy and Suzanne) got off and pushed.</p> <p>After that we made good progress back to Keswick where we finished at 12:08 giving us a time of approximately 4:20. According to GPS we cycled for 3:21:53 so the rest of the time was spent waiting, eating brilliant flapjack and carrying out necessary repairs. We had four incidents of a chain coming off (mainly due to inappropriate gear changing) and one snapped chain which we managed to fix. We averaged 11.1 mph over 37.4 mile and climbed 2,187 feet.</p> <p>The second group finished at 1:15 and were held up mainly because Diana crashed and burned on the descent from Whinlatter. She says she is very sore but otherwise intact and she bravely managed to carry on and complete the circuit. Well done.</p> <p>We had a very enjoyable day and congratulations should go to everyone for their achievement. Roll on next year! We have so far raised &pound;656 and counting!
