Story

I did it. A little bit slower than I had hoped for but medal is in my possession so that's all I set out for. A HUGE THANK YOU to all who sponsored me and supported me throughout my training ups and downs

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

INJURY CRISIS

I have been told that I have injured my leg and therefore must rest completely before race day. This means I will not have run in the whole of March or April - not ideal preparation!! There is also a good possibility that my leg will die during the marathon and I may have to run some of the way a la John Bishop. i.e. "broken". At the beginning of March my aim was around 4hrs 30 mins. This has now been revised to just finishing!!

The challenge for me now seems much greater than it was so if you feel you can spare a pound or two please do. I am hoping that someone from Boots the Chemist may read this and sponsor me considereing how much I must have boosted their profits this year with the lotions, potions, supports, k tape etc that I have bought from them!!

Onwards and ever more upwards.

I have just received a second donation from the Carter family in memory of Philip Carter. Many thanks to his family for another extremely generous donation. This further £185 has been added to my total as an "off line" donation. (9 Nov 2011).

I know I must be mad to attempt my first marathon at my age (and with my level of fitness) but it is all for a hugely worthwhile cause. I will be joining a group of 32 staff and governors from South Dartmoor Community College (including the Head) to run the London Marathon in April 2012. The training has already started (never too early at my agae!) and one half marathon has been completed (the thought of having to run twice the distance is a little daunting!) so please help me get through the pain and make it all worthwhile by donating. Our charity is Whizz Kidz who specialise in giving disabled children the chance to be something special…a kid. They do that by providing them with essential mobility equipment appropriate to their needs and opportunities to meet, have fun, and develop skills for adult life.

My first fundraising event on 28 August - cream teas at Powdermills Pottery raised £195 - thank you to all those who attended. The next event will take place at the Warren House Inn on Friday 11 November when I shall be hosting a pub quiz - more details to follow soon so keep an eye out.

JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
