Story

Welcome to the High Adventure Fundraising Page…

By the end of this year we hope to raise £10,000.00 for Yorkshire Cancer Centre, by holding a range of fundraising events.

Well we have been trying to find a new way of raising money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre...

We put our heads together and came up with moustaches..!

But how do moustaches help to raise money..?

We all grow moustaches and get people to sponser us...

YEAH!!!

and so MOVEMBER was born.....

                                        MOVEMBER...!

The plan…

To raise as much money as possible over the month of November, for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre by seeking sponsorship for growing a moustache…

If you do not wish to grow a moustache then you can still be involved by sponsoring someone else or getting sponsorship to do something else…

For example; One H.A. Staff member is getting sponsored by his friends and family to not grow a moustache… I assume this is because he’ll look like Basil Faulty if he was to grow one…?

WHO is growing a moustache?

So far signed up we have...

Chris Jepson

James Atkinson

Henry Exon

Mick Ellerton

Matt Thornton

David Maw

Pete Oldham

Chris Reade

Paul Roberts

and more joining everyday...

What else has been happening...

The first event “A Bit of a Do!” was held on the 10th of October and managed to raise £5000.00...!

A Bit of a Do!!”
The first of what is scheduled to become an annual ‘bit of a do’ took place at Glusburn institute on Friday 10th October and was a resounding success. The evening began with the excellent local band Kelly’s eye www.kellyseyeno1.co.uk  followed by an auction and raffle of donated prizes, such was the generosity of the donators and the bidders that we were able to raise a whopping £5000.
Special thanks must go to:

  • Glusburn Institute for donating the hall
  • All individuals and businesses who donated prizes
  • The Auctioneer, Matthew Binns, who stepped in at the last moment and did a fantastic job
  • The ‘A bit of a do!’ committee who freely gave up their time and energies for this worthy cause
  • Everyone who came and supported the event, especially the volunteer bar staff
  • The Wonder Women who ran the Tesco 10k at Castle Howard for Cancer Research UK and raised several thousand for the cause.

Following the success of ‘A bit of a do!!’ we are already talking about doing it again next year, so keep a space in your diary for ‘A bit of a do 2!!’
