FROM MY SOFA TO YOUR WALLET
Since I can't ascend Annapurna in a caterpillar costume, bicycle across the Sahara in a diving suit, run the London Marathon in a Superwoman outfit, walk 5km or even 500 yards dressed as myself, I invite you to sponsor me for lying patiently on my sofa on 1 June - 11 years to the day since I was struck down with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The sofa is where I spend most of my time because I have so little energy. I'm mostly virtually housebound.
There are up to 250,000 people in Britain with ME, and 25% are bed-bound or housebound. That's 62,500 - nearly two London Marathons' worth of severely affected people. That's 71 miles in end-to-end sofas...
The vital scientific research that's needed to understand and treat ME is proceeding at the pace of a geriatric snail because of lack of resources and political will. That's why ME Research UK's work is so important.
I hope you'll want to make a donation. Millions are needed - anything's a start. Thank you.
