Family Hill Amblers for Team Tommi

RBC Race for the Kids 2019 · 12 October 2019 ·
Great Ormond Street Hospital are currently treating the wonderful Tommi and looking after his amazing parents, Hanna and Mark - friends that we have long known and loved. We are delighted to be able to support their fundraising for this amazing cause and know that our friends and family will be happy to do so too ... thank you x
This is their story...
Team Tommi are joining the GOSH Race for the Kids in 2019 to help raise funds to create state of the art facilities for patients, families and staff. GOSH holds a special place in our hearts because our Tommi’s life has already been saved once by the specialist team there, and now they are taking on the challenge again. It’s time for us to give something back.
Who’s Tommi?
Tommi is 9 years old and loves racing (karting and Formula 1 in particular) and football. Laid back and mischievous, super competitive and caring, honest and full of fun, this boy has character and he is STRONG 💪🏼
In April 2019, our lives were turned upside down AGAIN when Tommi relapsed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia after being 2 years clear. Thanks to GOSH Tommi has received a new immunotherapy drug alongside chemotherapy as part of a clinical trial to try to find alternative treatments for children in his situation. We are grateful that there were treatment options available to us as not all families are so lucky. His specialist team have created a cocktail of chemotherapy that will hopefully get him to a strong enough remission for bone marrow transplant. As we are in a real race against time, Tommi is fortunate enough to have a bone marrow donor ready and waiting 😊If all goes well, Tommi will have received his new stem cells by the time the Race for Kids starts in October.
We feel blessed to be in such safe hands with the expertise, care and support from such an amazing team at GOSH.
Please help us to raise some funds on behalf of Tommi and his family, and even better, join us for a hop, run, scoot or walk around Hyde Park on 12 October!! Grannies, aunts, uncles, cousins and dogs, all are welcome!
