Homes In Zimbabwe is a UK registered charity that provides food and fuel to impoverished elderly people in Zimbabwe. HIZ has fed over 3,000 frail elderly people since its launch.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for HIZ (Homes in Zimbabwe).  Supporting pensioners in Zimbabwe.

Things are now so critical in Zimbabwe ALL HIZ funds are going to feed the old folks!

£5 (just a fiver) will cover the cost of one food pack - basically a months groceries for an old aged person.   (This is what they get: 1 kg beef mince; 1 kg chicken; 1 dozen eggs; tinned sardines; packets of soup; 1 kg rice; 500g pasta; cerevita, pronutro or oats;  instant noodles; tea; milk powder; jam; peanut butter and some fresh vegetables).  Sadly, couples have to share this!

To raise awareness, and more importantly FUNDS, for this charity Andrew Shoesmith (AKA Squash), Sarah Shoesmith (AKA Tinx) and Paul Steiger HAVE paddled from the source of the Thames to Teddington (where the river becomes tidal).

It was an exhausting but inspiring experience - where we had to keep pace with the river speed limit just to do it in 4 days.  In total we each paddled 945 000 strokes covered 210km and ate our way through a large amount of chocolate to get the job done!

For more informaiton on the trip and a few photos visit here.

Please buy someone old a food pack for a MONTH! - just a fiver will really help!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Homes In Zimbabwe will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
