Rachel Watson is raising money for First Touch
In memory of Holly Scarlett Ross Watson
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Thanks for visiting Holly's fundraising page!

Our beautiful daughter Holly died on Thursday 29th January 2009, aged just 2 weeks.

She spent her last 2 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting, having transferred from Kingston Hospital, where she was born.

St George's has one of the few high dependency ICU units for babies that are very sick or need surgery, the Neonatal Unit cares for over 500 new-born babies each year, consequently the pressure on their resources is huge.

The care they showed for Holly was second to none, on a ward best described as hectic, where life and death are not just daily issues but hourly. They also provide fantastic support for the parents - including, in our case, giving us a room close to the unit so we could stay near to Holly as she battled to the end.

Rachel and I have been touched by all the support of our friends and family and are now on close personal terms with all the local florists! We would now ask, rather than sending any more flowers to the house that you help support the fantastic work they do at St George's Neonatal. In fact, even if you were not planning on sending any flowers, why not help out some little ones that could really do with your help. We are currently waiting to find out what equipment is most needed on the unit and are delighted to know that your money will be going towards something specific, which will have a plaque to commemorate Holly on it, so will always be in the unit where we can visit to remember her.

Many, many thanks,

Jules & Rachel

PPPS Our original target was £250! Due to everyone's amazing generosity this was then changed to £500... then £1000, £1500 so having blown those away too, let's see if we can hit £2500!
