Story

Thanks for visiting my Race for Life page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online - it's quick, easy and totally secure.

We are 4 hard working Home Bargains employees and we have decided to participate in Race for life this year.

Dawn -  I grew up knowing and seeing this dreadful disease and what it does. my sister passed away from neurofibromatosis age 19 after years of hard fighting and pain, my nan had breast cancer at 33 and on its second return she passed away at 66. my aunty also passed from cancer and my mum is now 6 years clear of breast cancer after having a full mastectomy and re-build made from her stomach.

I do not want my children to have to go through, have or see the same as me or when i have grandchildren...it is essential we raise as much money as we can to stop this....please help!

Kayleigh - My mom had cervical cancer when I was just 5 months ago. She had laser and biopsy treatment luckily she's been clear since.

My Great Nan was 96 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer she refused treatment and sadly died 12 months later. My Great Uncle was diagnosed at 60 with lung cancer and passed away at 62 .

My friend Ciara was diagosed with a Glioblastoma Multiform Brain Tumour at the age of 15. This went and was given the all clear on her 16th birthday. A couple of years later it came back again but twice as bad. I started the final year of sixth form with her up until the 9th Sept 2006 my life changed completely she sadly passed away at the age of 18 I couldn't continue with my studies and I had too put it on hold.

So pleased sponsor us. It's extremely important too each of us and lets beat cancer together.

Saphire- My Mom had breast cancer when I was back at school so it was a while ago. It was a very scary time for all of our family as we didn't know anything about it until she started having her treatment. She didn't want us to know that she was going to the doctors for a lump she had found as she thought we'd all worry too much. She didn't think it was anything. Before i knew it she was booked into the hospital to have a mastectomy. I'm so happy she went and got checked as it could have been a lot worse. They did catch it early so she was very lucky. She still goes back for regular check ups and everything is fine. It still scares me to think that she actually had cancer and I always worry that it could come back.

I know a few people who have lost their family members to cancer and it isn't nice to see the hurt and pain they go through just because they still haven't found a cure. So that's why I'm doing the race for life so hopefully we can all make a difference and maybe save someones life. Nobody deserves to get this disease and no body should have to deal with a loved one trying to fight it!

We're going to kick cancers butt with the help of others too by being sponsored, if it's only £1 or £20 every last penny will help. So please sponcer us. It'll mean a lot and we will be ever so grateful. I'm also so sure if we do well this time we shall do it next year and hopefully more people will join us. Thank You.

Jessica- My two Grandmothers died of cancer, my moms mom died before i was born and my dads mom died when i was 7. I didn't understand the meaning of cancer or what it was doing to my Nan. But when i was 15 my Grandad got bladder cancer and I had to learn and understand the serious of the disease and how many people died from it and come to terms that there was no cure and my Grandad was gonna die.

I no many people that have had to have operations to clear the disease but hearing those words that you have cancer, must be the most terrifying words to be spoken.

Please donate today thank you.
