ING New York Marathon 2006 · 5 November 2006 ·

Heart of Mersey is a coronary heart disease prevention charity working in Greater Merseyside. We lobby against the big killers of tobacco and poor diet. We are at the forefront of campaigning for better food in our nurseries, schools and hospitals and have lobbied hard for smokefree legislation.

Story

Well guys I did it. Thank you so much for your donations and support.

It was the slowest marathon I've ever run (5 hours 36 mins) but by far the most fun. There were thousands out on the streets in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and at the finish in Central Park.

I certainly needed it. My legs kind of gave out at 15 miles so it was a slow haul home! I couldn't not finish - when New Yorkers tell you 'you're looking good' you kind of believe it.

The Everton shirt meant I got lots of shouts (mainly positive) and lots of football chat from fellow Brits on the way round.

It was a truly a privilege to fly the flag for Heart of Mersey and wear Everton in the Community's colours in New York.

Thank you once again, Robin
