Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.

On 17th of June 2015,  four " old " friends, otherwise known as knapdog, billyfix, libby and the fox who furthermore, answer to "The Four Moped-eers", are riding from John O'Groats to Land's End  on little Honda C90's , the bike that some regard as " the greatest bike of all time". ( see photo).

Despite having bikes of 1000cc and over, we have chosen the little 'uns and decided to "suffer". The Honda C90, also known as the step thru', cruncher, boneshaker or chickenchaser was never built for comfort or speed. In fact the Honda C90 is slow. Slow, but reliable and they will get us to Land's End,  eventually, which is why we are going to spend nine days doing the 1000 miles. It is the most popular vehicle of any kind. Over 60 million of these iconic bikes have been made. You can thrash them, not service them and even fill them up with cooking oil and they'll keep coming back for more. You will see lots of them still in the far east, though most have been plagued with rust, except ours, which have been fully restored and raring to go.

We have organised a courier to take them up the day before so don't worry,  we're not going to ask anyone if we can borrow their van!

We will be travelling on B roads and minor roads for 99% of the time and will be up for whatever weather comes our way.

No doubt there will be the occasional mishap along the way to test our patience, our tolerance, our friendships and undoubtedly our wallets but it is these very incidents that will make the adventure and probably the ones we'll remember the most.
The four of us are all very different. We're all now more or less retired but in our time, between us,  we've been builders, carpenters, lorry drivers, engineers, mechanics, teachers and security guards.
We've been rugby players, hockey players, water skiers, snow skiers, cyclists and sailors, cricketers, card sharks, joggers and swimmers, snooker, bowls and darters, but we also hope to be pretty good at raising money to help those in need of special care and attention so that they can get better and lead full, happy and active lives.

As parents and grandparents ourselves,  we have been thankful for our childrens' and grandchildrens' good health but also grateful, appreciative and full of admiration  for those who have looked after them when they are not so well, which is why we'd like you to help us in raising funds for this worthwhile cause - The Noah's Ark Childrens' Hospital Charity.

More photos will be added before and during the "expedition" for you to laugh and cry in equal doses!
