The Mongol Rally is sold as "The greatest adventure in the world" and entails driving as crap a car as possible some 10,000 miles around the world. Sounds easy? well it would be in a Land Rover but to try and induce a greater sense of adventure, risk and stupidity the organisers invented the 1 litre rule! The engine capacity of the car must be less than 1000cc thereby ensuring that every car will inevitably break down at some point on the way to Mongolia!! There is no set route, no entourage of support vehicles and certainly no sensible participants!! The roads will range from autobahns to dirt tracks and even to non existent as we travel through forests, across deserts and over mountain ranges! The event kicks off on the 21st July from Hyde Park and will hopefully finish about 4 weeks later in the Mongolian capital.
The main aim of the rally (apart from getting there of course!) is to raise sack loads of cash for some great charities so please donate generously to this worthy cause.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Mercy Corps Scotland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
