Thnk you for visiting our fundraising site... Who are The Hornsey Trust? · They are a registered charity that supports children with cerebral palsy, their families and the professionals who work with them · They teach through Conductive Education which aims to teach the kids skills so that they can be as independent as possible Why do we want to help them? · They are a local charity that receives little financial assistance apart from their own fundraising (They need to raise £200,000 per year just to stay open!) · Around 1 in 400 children in the UK are born with cerebral palsy. That’s over 1000 children per year in London alone. Therefore, it is shocking to know that they are the ONLY facility of its kind in the whole of London and can only currently offer 20 fulltime places! How are we going to help them? · Their ultimate aim is to raise £3m to move to brand new premises that will have better facilities and can cater for more children. Short term though, we believe that we can assist them by improving their existing facilities · We are giving up our own time to improve both their kitchen and their playground area. Their kitchen is well past its sell by date so we are going to completely rip it out and start again. This includes worktops, drawers, flooring and all appliances. Their playground is quite bare so we are looking to brighten up the area by provide an environment that will support the objectives of the centre in terms of the children’s development. This will include putting in raised flowerbeds, hanging floral displays, bird feeders/baths and giving the area some colour with a lick of paint. · We will be fundraising as part of this project and this will be supplemented by funding that we can obtain from the Royal Bank of Scotland Community Action Scheme. However further assistance is required. How can you help? · This is a fantastic, truly worthwhile project but in order to maximise the benefits to the Hornsey Trust, we need help. We are looking for donations in order to assist in this project. This may be in the form of equipment, your services or money that we can use to buy items that haven’t been donated. If you can help us in any way, please let us know. Nothing is too small. · If you would like to learn more about the trust their website is www.hornseytrust.org.uk
