This year, my Chairman’s Appeal is a project that is very close to my heart, funding HorseWorld’s two new Equine Welfare Officers. The Equine Welfare Officers are responsible for ensuring the continued well-being of each and every horse, pony and donkey that is re-homed by HorseWorld, as well as being in a good position to respond to and assess any possible instances of animal neglect that are brought to our attention.

 

Volunteering in this role myself for many years, I travelled over 12,000 miles every year and I know from personal experience how vital a reliable vehicle is – especially when the members of our Equine Loan Scheme live in such beautiful, but often rugged, country locations.

 

The Loan Scheme has grown so much in such a relatively short space of time. In 2003 when I began volunteering HorseWorld had approximately 24 horses on loan. This has increased in 2008 to closer to 400! The Equine Welfare Officers are now essential and I do hope that you can support my appeal for funds to make this role possible.
